Banking & Finance

The Banking & Finance department is led by Eduan Kapp who has nearly thirty years of finance experience.

In addition to his legal experience, he has worked as an investment banker in London and was a founding partner in two Sub-Saharan funds, both based in Mauritius. In the past 30 months, he developed a team responsible for advising clients on deals worth approximately R38bn.

He has acted for sovereigns, multi nationals, investment banks, finance and PE companies and has been actively involved – from origination, advisory, structuring, implementing to exit – in more than 150 major transactions in emerging markets.

Mzoxolo Welemva served his articles at Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs in 2003, practiced as an associate in the finance department and left in 2006. Between 2009 and 2014 Mzoxolo was an in-house legal advisor to Tamela Holdings. Between 2007 and 2009, Mzoxolo was a legal advisor to Makalani Holdings, a formerly listed fund.

Mzoxolo has previously advised MTN Group, Exxaro, Life Healthcare, PPC, Waterfront (Cape Town) and FL Smith Roymec.

Tana Patsa is an associate designate with experience in advising clients on various aspects of commercial law, contract law,  company law, regulatory law, administrative law, corporate governance with specific focus on state-owned entities, Black Economic Empowerment law and public law sector procurement law.
